Our Facilities

The administrative headquarters are located in Quito. Additionally, COMUMAP possesses modern infrastructure and machinery provided with state-of-the-art technology, thus guaranteeing an excellent product and installed response capacity suitable to meet a large demand. Its geographical location allows for direct access to the source of raw material, since it is located at the fishing port of Chanduy, a town that lies within the province of Santa Elena.


Social corporate involvement

Conservas Mundo Marino Peninsular (COMUMAP) cooperates intensively with Chanduy through the following initiatives:

  • Construction of infrastructure for the local school.
  • Improved community health. Seminars and workshops have been organized and sponsored for women on the issues of breast cancer and cervical cancer. Additionally, COMUMAP has provided free health and medical care to children, adults and persons with special disabilities.
  • Donation of trash cans in order to promote recycling within the community.
  • Provision of bus stops for pedestrians, the local church and community venue.
  • Training for catch suppliers.

The National Agricultural and Food Sanitary and Quality Service (SENASA— Servicio Nacional de Sanidad y Calidad Agroalimentaria) allows for the importation of export goods having due permits, aimed at protecting animal health and public veterinarian health. Regulations ensure planning, administration, coordination implementation and application of activities related to food safety in animal products at the national and international level.

The American Food and Drug Administration (food and pharmaceutical department) seeks to protect public health by regulating medicines and drugs for human and veterinarian use, vaccines and other biological products. In order to attain certification, the country inspects the premises, facilities, laboratories and all imported goods.

European union
European Union (EU) (UE)

EU member countries apply common importation rules. The parameters are established to ensure that imported food does in fact comply with the very high quality standards that apply to health and food safety. COMUMAP has complied with such standards since it has been granted a certificate at its production plant, thus enabling unrestricted exportation. This has been verified by the Food and Veterinarian Office for the European Commission, which is charged with performing verification missions to every exporting country.

HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point) ensures healthiness, safety and quality of the processes and products in an integrated manner. The license reviews biological, chemical and physical hazards involved as well as critical control points throughout the process.
